Kitakyusyu Ogura-jo Castle
Ogura-jo Castle
Kokura, facing the Kanmon Strait, has a long history of forts and castles as a key point of land and sea transportation, and has a history of fighting with many royal families. The town of Kokura was the gateway connecting Honshu and Kyushu, and was the starting point of the Nakatsu Kaido and Nagasaki Kaido. For this reason, it was said that "all roads in Kyushu lead to Kokura", and it was full of vitality. Even today, it is a famous spot in Kitakyushu City where you can feel the atmosphere of the Edo period by having a tasteful garden in the city center surrounded by buildings. You can enjoy a quiet and calm time while feeling the history.
